Beer Brat Hot Tub
Ingredients
1 pack (5-6) Johnsonville Brats
2 - 24 oz beer (your choice)
2 large onions, thinly sliced
Brat buns (or hot dog buns)
Toppings (optional): Mustard, sauerkraut, etc.
Directions
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
In a foil pan, pot or deep skillet, place the sliced onions. Pour in the beer over the onions, and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
Once the beer is simmering, carefully add the Johnsonville brats to the foil pan with the beer and onions.
Let the brats simmer for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally to cook them evenly. This will allow the brats to soak in the beer’s light flavor.
Remove the brats from the beer bath and place them directly on the preheated grill.
Grill for 3-5 minutes, turning occasionally until the brats are browned and reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
While the brats are grilling, allow the beer and onions to simmer for a few more minutes until the liquid reduces slightly, and the onions become soft and flavorful.
Place the grilled brats in buns and add mustard top with the beer-braised onions.
