Smothered Chicken
This easy Smothered Chicken recipe should be your next weeknight meal! Tender, juicy chicken is seasoned and marinated with lemon, Worcestershire, and garlic, before being smothered with mushrooms, onions, bacon, and gooey melty cheese.
Ingredients
2 large chicken breasts, pounded to equal thickness
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced (or 2 tsp jarred garlic)
1 tbsp smoked paprika
2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp lemon juice
6 oz shredded cheese of choice
Optional Add-ins:
Bacon crumbles
Green peppers, sliced
Mushrooms, sliced
Directions
In a bowl, mix garlic, paprika, soy sauce, Worcestershire, and lemon juice. Add chicken to marinate and set aside.
In a skillet, heat oil and sauté onions, mushrooms, peppers, and bacon (if using). Cook until tender and set aside.
Add butter to the skillet and cook the marinated chicken until cooked through.
Top each chicken breast with shredded cheese and cover with a lid to melt.
Spoon sautéed veggies over the cheesy chicken.
Garnish as desired and serve hot.
