Cherry Chocolate Trifle

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake (store-bought or homemade), cut into cubes

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen pitted cherries

  • 2 cups chocolate pudding (store-bought or homemade)

  • 2 cups whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)

  • ¼ cup grated dark chocolate or chocolate shavings

  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

 

Directions

  1. Layer the Cake: Begin by placing a layer of chocolate cake cubes at the bottom of your trifle dish.

  2. Add Cherry Filling: Spread a layer of cherry pie filling over the cake cubes. Add a handful of fresh or frozen cherries on top.

  3. Layer the Pudding: Pour a layer of chocolate pudding over the cherry layer.

  4. Add Whipped Cream: Spread a layer of whipped cream on top of the pudding.

  5. Repeat Layers: Continue layering the cake cubes, cherry filling, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream until the trifle dish is full. Make sure to finish with a layer of whipped cream on top.

  6. Garnish: Sprinkle the grated dark chocolate or chocolate shavings over the top layer of whipped cream. Garnish with fresh mint leaves, if desired.

  7. Chill: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
