Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice

  • 2 tbs rice vinegar

  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced into strips

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 6 cups chopped broccoli

  • 2 tsp sesame seeds

    Stir Fry Sauce

  • 1 tsp fresh grated ginger

  • 2 tsp grated garlic

  • ½ cup hot water

  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce (we use low sodium

  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 Tbsp corn starch

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil

Directions

  1. First, let’s start the rice add 2 cups rice to a rice cooker. Add 3½ cups of water and rice vinegar. Set the rice cooker, depending on your manufacturer settings. Yes, this rice can also be cooked on the stove top.

  2. Next, let’s make the stirfry sauce by combining all stirfry sauce ingredients into one bowl, making sure to stir enough to dissolve the sugar granules. Set that aside. In a large frying pan over medium heat, add olive oil and chopped broccoli allow this to cook for 4 to 5 minutes covered with a lid making sure to toss or stir until the broccoli is bright green (you can add this also to the rice steamer basket to save time)

  3. Now for the beef, increase heat to high. Add any remaining oil to the pan. Add each slice of beef and cook two minutes per side.

  4. Next, add the stirfry sauce and allow to cook for 3 to 4 minutes the sauce will thicken. Then add broccoli, toss beef, and broccoli to thoroughly coat.*** If your sauce is too thick add one or 2 tablespoons of water to thin it out.

  5. The last step is putting it all together. Simply add a bed of rice to a plate or bowl, then add beef and broccoli stirfry on top and garnish with sesame seeds.
