Peppermint Ice Cream
Make your own peppermint ice cream at home with an electric mixer, heavy whipping cream, peppermint, candy canes, and sweetened condensed milk. Red food coloring is optional, but gives it the classic holiday pink peppermint look.
Ingredients
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
½ teaspoon peppermint extract
½ cup crushed candy canes
Red food coloring (optional)
Directions
In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, and crushed candy canes. If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring and stir until the mixture has a light pink color.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the condensed milk mixture until fully combined, being careful not to deflate the cream.
Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Smooth the top with a spatula and cover with a lid or plastic wrap.
Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
