Beer Battered Fried Jalapeños

Ingredients

  • 20-24 Whole Pickled Jalapeños

  • 1/4 C Cornmeal (not the mix)

  • 1 C All Purpose Flour + ½C for dredging

  • 1 Tsp Baking Powder

  • 1/2 Tsp Salt

  • 1 C Beer

  • 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil + more oil to fry

  • 3-4 oz Muenster Cheese block

 

Directions

  1. Cut a small slit in each pepper and remove seeds and membrane. Keep stem attached. Rinse out the inside of peppers.

  2. In a small mixing bowl combine all the dry ingredients above first then add the beer and oil. Mix until smooth and let stand 15 minutes.

  3. In a small saucepan or frying pan, add 3” of Veg Oil and Heat to 350°F.

  4. Cut the muenster cheese into strips the same size as the jalapeño. Fill each pepper with a cheese strip.

  5. Dredge pepper into the flour. Dip each pepper in batter and gently place in heated oil.

  6. Rotate the peppers while frying, and remove when they are golden. Serve with salsa or queso dip
