Ground Beef Taco Meat

 

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil 

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% or 90% lean) 

  • 2 teaspoons chili powder 

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • Pinch Mexican Oregano

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/2 Onion, diced

  • Salt/Pepper to taste

  • Crispy shells or Flour Tortillas per choice.

 

Directions

  1. Prepare the ground beef: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

  2. Season the Beef: Add the chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, Mexican oregano, Fresh onion and garlic. Taste and adjust using seasonings and salt, and pepper.  Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

  3. Desired toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro, etc.
