Christine’s Heart Tarts are cute and easy to make dessert hand pies for Valentine’s Day! Pie crust, hazelnut spread, fresh berries, and berry whipped cream make these adorable tarts

Ingredients

  • Heart shaped cookie cutters

  • 2 unroll and bake pie crust (or make your own)

  • One tub of whipped mixed berry cream cheese

  • Fresh fruit, sliced ( berries work best)

  • One jar of hazelnut spread

  • One egg, beaten

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F

  2. Unroll crust and place on a cutting mat. Cut out several heart shapes and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet

  3. Spread a little cream cheese, sliced fruits, and top with a little hazelnut spread. Be careful to not go all the way to the edge of the pastry

  4. Brush the edge of the pastry with water.

  5. Next, using the remainder of the heart shapes previously cut out place one on top of the filled pastries on the cookie sheet

  6. Next, using a fork crimp all the way around the edge of the heart sealing each one

Be careful not to overfill these because they will burst during the baking process

  7. Use a skewer or a knife to make small slits in the top of each tart. Using the beaten egg, brush the top of each tart

  8. Place the cookie sheet into the oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Enjoy as a hand pie or stack a couple & add ice cream!
