Ham and Cheese Rolls with Cranberry Mustard Butter
Ingredients
1 large pizza dough, about 1 pound, at room temperature
A few pinches of flour to dust surface
Cooking spray
8 ounces shredded cheese of choice
8 thin slices ham
1/2 a red onion, sliced
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 Tbsp cranberry mustard OR 1 tbsp Dijon and 1 -Tbsp cranberry sauce
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp poppy seeds
Salt and pepper
Directions
Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle. Heat the butter until it's melted, and brush the dough. Reserve the rest of the butter for later.
Place the meat in one layer, careful not to overlap. Top the meat with the cheese, and then the onions. The thinner each layer is, the easier it is to roll.
Roll the dough into a log so the toppings are tucked inside. Slice the log into 9 pieces. Grease an 8×8 pan, and place the rolls inside. Cover with a towel, and allow to rise 15-20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F
With the remaining butter, whisk in the cranberry mustard, honey, and poppy seeds. Taste and adjust with salt and pepper.
Once the rolls have risen, pour the cranberry mustard butter evenly over the rolls.
Bake the rolls until the dough is cooked and golden. Serve warm or at room temperature
