American Goulash

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 80/20 ground beef

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1 cup water

  • ½ cup beef broth

  • One 15 oz can tomato sauce

  • One 15 oz can stewed tomatoes, crushed

  • 1.5 teaspoons Italian seasoning, dried

  • 1.5 teaspoons basil, dried

  • 1.5 bay leaves

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire

  • ¼ tablespoon salt

  • ¼ tablespoon garlic powder

  • ¼ black pepper ground

  • 1 cup elbow macaroni, uncooked

  • ½ cup cheese of your choice

Directions

  1. Cook ground beef in Dutch Oven, breaking it up while cooking. Spoon off grease.

  2. Add onions and cook. Add water, beef stock, tomato sauce, tomatoes, garlic, bay leaves and Worcestershire sauce. Place lid on Dutch oven and cook for 20-25 min.

  3. Add macaroni and stir well. Put lid back on and simmer until pasta is aldente (4-5 minutes).

  4. Remove from heat. Remove bay leaves and top with cheese.
