The Challenger: Auriks Wong @GuaduaCook

My grandparents emigrated to Ecuador many years ago. I was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador; I am also part Chinese and Jewish. My love for cooking started with my grandmother; My grandmother prepared some delicious recipes. On Sundays, it was tradition to have a family gathering and eat together; We enjoyed the time we spent together and it's something we always looked forward to. I grew up in the restaurant business. My father always taught me about the ingredients, how to mix them, and how to fuse flavors and textures together. I enjoyed spending time with my father and learning everything I could about cooking.

My first restaurant business started at the age of 17 when I opened my first restaurant called "El Arbolito." The specialty was pork tenderloin sandwiches, chicken, hamburgers prepared with charcoal, food trays with corn accompanied with chicken, smoked pork and ribs and the famous fish burgers (secret recipe) each with their respective sauces of the customer's choice. Our fresh fruit smoothies were one of our most popular items on the menu. By the time I was 23 years old, we opened "Hulabamboo" with the same concept as the first restaurant, the only difference was the name. We managed to accomplish 16 years of success in the restaurant business.

A decade ago, I decided to immigrate to the United States where I currently reside in the beautiful city of Miami, Florida.

I am happy to belong to the Foodtoktv group and share my passion for cooking and also be able to teach everyone my recipes, and in this way honor the memory of my mentors Mr. Jorge Wong (my father), and Mrs. Carmelina Chang (my grandmother).

Believe in yourself play and work hard.

- Auriks Wong—AURIKS

Naci, en Guayaquil, Ecuador. Mis abuelos emigraron a Ecuador hace muchos años.
