Meet Daphne Brogdon: host of Daphne Dishes Again

Daphne Brogdon is best known for her Food Network show Daphne Dishes. Her culinary philosophy parallels the three-beat rule of comedy, ensuring that every dish she creates balances three distinct tastes, textures, or flavor notes. In 2024 she brought that same vibe to her new Youtube channel “Daphne Dishes Again”.

Daphne’s passion for food and wine deepened during her marriage to the late Chef Mark Peel, a trailblazer in the culinary world. Together, they co-owned The Tar Pit, one of LA’s first mixology supper clubs, as well as Prawn, a fast-casual eatery at Grand Central Market. They also launched Campanile LAX. Daphne collaborated with Mark on pop-ups, catering, and food festivals, and later developed her own pop-up series, Weed to Table, which creatively combined cannabis and foraged ingredients.

Daphne’s comedic approach to food stems from her early days as a mom vlogger. Her groundbreaking series Cool Mom (@coolmomdotcom on YouTube) and Momversation earned her recognition from Nielsen and Forbes and appearances on Oprah and Dr. Phil. These comedic videos led to her Food Network debut, where producers saw her relatable charm. She has also appeared on Beat Bobby Flay and other shows on The Cooking Channel.

Her on-screen ease reflects years of hosting and performing experience. She was a regular comic on The Ricki Lake Show and hosted shows like TV Guide’s Fashion Team and VH1’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Daphne’s career began in radio, producing the nationally syndicated Dr. Dean Edell Show, and extended to stand-up comedy and improvisation. She is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz, trained at the American Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco, and co-founded the improv group Scratch Theater.

After the sudden loss of her husband, Daphne took a two-year hiatus to focus on her children . Her return is marked by resilience and a commitment to sharing the universal connections of humor and food. She recently appeared at the Palm Springs Food Festival and continues to engage audiences on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

Daphne is also dedicated to preserving Mark’s legacy, working to fund a scholarship in his honor at Cal Poly Pomona. Whether creating recipes or content, she is driven by the belief that humor and food bring people together.
